The huntress .... one of 42 sculpted maidens at the Chennakeshava temple at Belur, 220km from Bangalore. These maidens are known as Madanikas (seductresses) or Shalabhanjikas (because they are usually surrounded by a Shala tree).
Exquisitely carved in soapstone. 12th century. Hoysala style.
