Gravity Pillar / Lampost :
Inside the temple complex on the left side of the gopuram towards the south is a huge 42 feet high pillar carved out of a single stone called Deepastambha.
This 42-feet-high pillar, also known as Mahasthambha or Kartika Deepotsava Stambha, is one of the prime attractions of Chennakeshava Temple. Karnataka
It is standing on its own weight on a raised platform without any support. There is no base to this pillar and it is positioned on a platform made of a single stone.
It is said that this pillar is standing on three sides on its own weight and the fourth side has an unfilled gap. An outstanding example of skilled and amazing craftsmanship. This is one of the beauty of Hoysala Dynasty.
