The real marriage of Indira Gandhi took place in London Mosque after Feroz Khan and Indira met her ailing mother at Geneva- suffering from last stages of TB, and in spite of her opposition to the marriage. Indira was converted to Islam and adopted the name Maimunnah Begum and returned to India after the Nikkah. Mahatma Gandhi was annoyed and talked to Nehru in Allahabad Jail and then met the couple at Delhi disappointed at the bleak future for the Muslim couple. Then he suggested that he would adopt Feroz as his son and he could use his surname and Indira too could become Indira Gandhi. The photograph shown is the formality of Hindu marriage enacted for the public, at Allahabad, with no Senior members present except aunt Vijayalakshmi Pandit having had a similar episode earler but thwarted by the elders by sending her abroad. Feroz Gandhi's father was Nawab Khan, originally from Junagadh in Gujarat, married to Parsi from Bharuch in Gujarat, converted to Muslim Ghandy, a supplier of groceries and liquor to Anandbhavan, the errand often carried out by his son Feroz, getting close to the family- with Nehru in Jail and Kamla in Geneva.

Sir, I thought all along, Feroz was Feroz Ghandy who was a parsi and Gandhiji gave his surname to get the marriage going for Indira. Correct me, if this was wrong.
