and, with your permission, I want to repost this to my blog. pls permit.

1. Ramayana in Kishkinda Kandam describes SriRama's entourage crossing Thambiraparni River, South of Tirunelveli to reach the wonderful City of Madurai, .
2. Abraham Pandithar's Music Treaty Karunamrithsagaram describes the first and second Sangham periods in this Madurai which was far South of present Kanyakumari, later submerged by rising oceans.
3. After the deluge, Tholkappium says " Nangal Padakil Kumarikkum Kollatthirkum Idaiyil Malai Adivaratthil Vanthu Sernthom." Those escaping from the ancient City of Madurai drifted on boats and landed at foothills between Kollam and Kanyakumari, showing both were in existence over 10,000 years back or 6750BC when Sage Tholkappian abridged original 80,000 verses of Akatthiam of Sage Agasthya to about 8,000 verses of Tholkappium, parts of the original available at Saraswathi Mahal Library in Thanjavur.
4. Kavatapuram is near Srivilliputhur in South India (Muthiah Bhagavathar's birthplace) and the escaped population temporarily settled there looking for a location to build a new Madurai. Research should be done on writings on the temple walls of Srivilliputhur and Kavatapuram to confirm these.
5. They found the nearby Kadamba Forest (a Kadamba tree trunk still exists in Meenakshi Temple) and built the City with a square shaped temple for Shiva and Parvathi(Meenakshi), and the roads concentric squares were named after the months Chithirai, Vaikasi, Aani...Masi..etc.up to Veli (Outside) Veethi
6.The third Sangham started in the present Madurai. Lord Shiva was continuous presiding deity/ Ruler of all these Sanghams- with Narada, Ganesha, Muruga, Agasthya in his Sabha.
The incident in which Poet Nakkirar challenged Shiva by "Nettrikkannai Thiranthalum Kuttram Kuttramey" shows how the debates were frank and meritorious in the Poet's meets presided by Lord Shiva.
7. New Years start in different parts either coinciding with the Makara or Kadaka or Equatorial positions of the SUN or the exact apex situation of the Sun of the particular area where the Calender started.
5. Chitthirai month (Medom in Kollam Era) starts on April 14th. when the Sun is at apex at Kanyakumari. However, 10 days later, Sun is at apex in Madurai which is called "Patthamudayam" in Malayalam or 10th days after the apex, which is the Sowing date followed religiously in Kerala.
Strangely Malayalam New Year starts with Chingom or August 15th or Aavani, when Sun is at Capricon, showing perhaps Malayalees had migrated from Gujarat, both in Vamana (Brihukatcha-Bharuch) or Krishna Avathar-s from Dwaraka- Guruvayur idol.
6. January 14th. is followed as New Year coinciding with the turning of the Earth backwards towards Capricon, and Russians still celebrate Jan.14 as New Year besides the Gregorian Jan 1, introduced later by Christian Clergy later.
Dear Bharathi Mani, Dondu Raghavan and Giri
All of us understand this and the fact remains that we can do nothing about it (except continue to celebrate the Tamil New Year in April/Chithirai) but the sad thing is how long we have to undergo this agony except expressing our concern thro this coloumn.MOST UNFORTUNATE THAT ALL POPULAR CHANNELS CONTINUE TO PROPAGATE THAI AS TAMIL NEW YEAR WHICH ARE CONTROLLED BY THE DRAVADIAN PARTIES AND WE AS A HAPLESS CITIZENS CONTINUE TO WATCH EHM .Ethavathu Vimochanam Unda.

Dear Sir, Let us not consider him worthy of our time. Let him do what he wants - he is having such a lot of problems that he uses such stupid things to divert our attention from the main problem. Let us continue following our tradition and custom. Regards
First of all, my sincere regards to the person who have created this wonderful presentation. I am a +2 girl who is doing Harikatha. Being know these Ramayanam, Mahabharatham my blood boils while seeing the act of Karunanidhi... And moreover my parents are arranging pilgrimage yathras to 108 DIVYADESAMS... In that place and all he is trying to change many things. That is really showing his carelessness of temples
