Do you know ?

http://a.imageshack.us/img412/7001/petrolfilling.jpg

YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS, ESPECIALLY IN THE WAKE OF RISING PETROL PRICES.

2 tips for filling petrol and diesel:-

Only buy or fill up your car or bike during early morning, when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks underground.. The colder the ground, the more dense the fuel. When it gets warmer, petrol expands. So, buying in the afternoon or in the evening, your litre is not exactly a litre. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature play an important role. 1 degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

Another most important tip is to fill up when your tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is, the more fuel you have in your tank the less is the air occupying its empty space. Petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine.

Blogger The Kid said...
Now that is interesting. Very useful.

However cannot agree on the logic behind "filling up when the tank is half full".

Even though petrol evaporates faster, the tank is closed. So, after it saturates the petrol does not go anywhere. It has to condense.

On the other hand, if you fill when the tank is only half empty, you are opening the tank and this exposes the fuel to the outside air. This will cause much more evaporation.

So, it is hard to say if filling when you are half full saves anything.

The density issue is correct. In U.S.A, CostCo and a few other companies settled a class action lawsuit for not charging the customers less per gallon of fuel during the afternoon hours.

Mystery of Bermuda triangle solved !

    http://a.imageshack.us/img42/2923/trianglew.jpg

Oceanographic surveyors of the sea floor in the area of the Bermuda Triangle and the North Sea region between continental Europe and Great Britain have discovered significant quantities of methane hydrates and older eruption sites.

(CHICAGO) - According to two research scientists the mystery of vanished ships and airplanes in the region dubbed "The Bermuda Triangle" has been solved.

Step aside outer space aliens, time anomalies, submerged giant Atlantean pyramids and bizarre meteorological phenomena ... the "Triangle" simply suffers from an acute case of gas.
Natural gas—the kind that heats ovens and boils water—specifically methane, is the culprit behind the mysterious disappearances and loss of water and air craft.

The evidence for this astounding new insight into a mystery that's bedeviled the world is laid out in a research paper published in the American Journal of Physics.

Professor Joseph Monaghan researched the hypothesis with honor student David May at the Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

The two hypothesized that large methane bubbles rising from the ocean floor might account for many, if not all, of the mysterious disappearances of ships and aircraft at specific locales around the world.
Researcher Ivan T. Sanderson identified these mystery areas during the 1960s. Sanderson described the actual shape of these regions as more like a lozenge rather than a triangle. Some of the more famous spots include an area in the Sea of Japan, the North Sea, and of course the infamous "Bermuda (or Devil's) Triangle."

Oceanographic surveyors of the sea floor in the area of the Bermuda Triangle and the North Sea region between continental Europe and Great Britain have discovered significant quantities of methane hydrates and older eruption sites.

Because of the correlations and existing data, the two envisioned what would happen when gigantic methane bubbles explode from natural fissures on the seafloor.

The methane—normally frozen at great pressure as gas hydrates embedded within subterranean rock—can become dislodged and transform into gaseous bubbles expanding geometrically as they explode upwards. When these bubbles reach the surface of the water they soar into the air, still expanding upwards and outwards.

Any ships caught within the methane mega-bubble immediately lose all buoyancy and sink to the bottom of the ocean. If the bubbles are big enough and possess a high enough density they can also knock aircraft out of the sky with little or no warning. Aircraft falling victim to these methane bubbles will lose their engines-perhaps igniting the methane surrounding them-and immediately lose their lift as well, ending their flights by diving into the ocean and swiftly plummeting

This bubble theory of methane exploding and all that has evaporated long back. Along with other arguments advanced, this is another piece of theory, advanced but not proved.
What do you say of the recent French plane crash from Brazil capital to Paris a few months
ago? again in the same area..
    It is therefore still mysterious.

it is quite an interesting theory.

But how can the bubbles affect planes?

      Dear Dr. Srinivasan,

One of the reader wanted these songs. To get them it took nearly more than three months for me. I got the information from Mr. T. M Krishna that this is available with Sri Kanchi MahaswamiPeetarohana Shatapthi Mahotsav Trust. But they were very non cooperative. Many mails, phone calls went in vain. Then I had to make a visit to Bombay and could purchase the Cds. It is displayed in the cover of the CD that the lyrics are available in the site www. srikanchmahaswamy 100.org. But once again I could not find them there. Please try and if you could get please share with everybody.

This trust is most non cooperative, non friendly to His Holiness devotees.
