Dear Sir Sri Vaithinathan Hariharan The Sir is carrying out wonderful service by uploading so many that are to definitely strengthen the seekers of the Truth. Serving others has many levels depending upon the capability of the server. At the physical level one can provide help like giving food and money to the needy, visiting sick in hospitals and meeting their requirements. At the mental level one can serve others through our useful writings and books which can influence many with whom we have no physical contact. One can comfort others by our words and talks which is verbal service. Listening to the problems of others is also a service because who talks in distress is comforted by a patient hearing. One can serve others even by praying for the well being of those who are afflicted. To teach healthy ideas to others is also a service which can be given to any one at any time. All forms of service are good and should be undertaken as per the ability and inclination of the server. But the BEST service is that when the server raises the level of mind set of the receiver. Then the question “what should be the mind set”. It should be “Accept there is nothing that can be talked of as the non-Self or non-Supreme, neither mind nor world. In the absence of mind there is no thinking, in the absence of the body there is no aging”. When we think of the Supreme Being as inactive, neither creating, nor preserving, nor destroying, I call him Brahman, or Purusha, the impersonal God. When we think of Him as active, creating, preserving, destroying, I call Him Shakti or Maya or Prakriti, the impersonal God. But the distinction between them does not mean a difference. The personal and the impersonal are the same Being, in the same way as milk and its whiteness, or the diamond and its lustre, or the serpent and its undulations. It is impossible to conceive of the one without the other. The Divine Mother or Maya and Brahman are one

Dear Sir Sri Vaithinathan Hariharan Sri Harishankar has asked for a song that describes the ALANKARAM of Goddess Meenakshi. If I am right I think there is a song by Sri Madurai Somasundaram "kalaivannaththirumohini Uruvana Mohana Kannanin Thangai Angayarkanni Amma" in which the singer portrays the Alankaram of Ambal in a most emotional manner. With warm regards ravi

Imitinef Mercilet - Free Blood Cancer Medicine Advice Message

Outline Message advises recipients that "Imitinef Mercilet", a medicine that cures blood cancer, is available free of charge from the Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai, India. Brief Analysis The Adyar Cancer Institute is a real health facility. "Imitinef Mercilet" is apparently an alternative spelling of the cancer drug, Imatinib mesylate. It is true that Imatinib (or "Imitinef") is available free of charge for patients who have been admitted to the Adyar Cancer Institute hospital for cancer treatment. However, the Institute is not handing out the drug freely to all as suggested in the message. Moreover, the drug does not actually cure all blood cancers as claimed in the message.

I was strolling in the gardens of an insane asylum when I met a young man who was reading a philosophy book.

His behavior and his evident good health made him stand out from the other inmates.

I sat down beside him and asked:

    ‘What are you doing here?’

He looked at me, surprised. But seeing that I was not one of the doctors, he replied:

‘It’s very simple. My father, a brilliant lawyer, wanted me to be like him.

“My uncle, who owns a large emporium, hoped I would follow his example.

“My mother wanted me to be the image of her beloved father.

“My sister always set her husband before me as an example of the successful man.

“My brother tried to train me up to be a fine athlete like himself.

“And the same thing happened at school, with the piano teacher and the English teacher – they were all convinced and determined that they were the best possible example to follow.

“None of them looked at me as one should look at a man, but as if they were looking in a mirror.

So I decided to enter this asylum. At least here I can be myself.’

How many times we would have gone to Kolkata and yet to see this Grand ! ( I am one )

The Great Banyan is a banyan tree (Ficus benghalensis) located in Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose indian botanic garden, Howrah, near Kolkata, India. It is a widest tree in the world, in terms of the area of the canopy and is estimated anout 200 to 250 years old. It became deceased after it was struck by lightning, so, in 1925 the middle of the tree was excised to keep the reminder healthy:this has left it as a colonial colony, rather than a single tree. A 330 k. long road was built around its circumference, but the tree continues to spread beyond it.

    http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/7458/banyantree006.jpg

    History and Description.

The Great Banyan Tree is aver 250 years old and in spread it is  the largest known in India, perhaps in Asia. There is no clear history of the tree, but it is mentioned in some travel books of the nineteenth century. IKt was damaged by two great cyclones in 1884 and 1886, when some of its main branches were broken and exposed to the attack of hard fungus. With its large number of aerial roots , The Great banyan looks more like a forest than an individual tree. The tree now lives without its main trunk, which decayed and was removed in 1925. The circumference of original trunk was 1.7 m. and from the ground was 15.7m. The area occupied the tree is about 14500 square metres (about 1.5 hectacre or 4 acres) The present crown of the tree has a circumference of about 1 kilometre and the highest branch rises to about 25 m: it has at present 2880 aerial roots reaching down to the ground.
